Drill and Practice Extension Activities
Drill and Practice:
- Drill and practice activities are designed for the student to practice the vocabulary words and definitions.
- Drill and practice activities should be quick, interesting, and engaging.
- The activities are designed to give students at least one turn to express each target word and its definition.
- An example of a drill and practice activity is the Memory game. The student tries to remember the placement of each card so that s/he can obtain as many pairs as possible. Turning over cards repeatedly provides many opportunities to express the target words and definitions.
Strategies for Successful Drill and Practice Activities:
- Use each target word during activity.
- Ensure that the teacher and the student can provide definitions of each target words during activity.
- Encourage and/or reinforce student’s use of each target word.
- Encourage and/or reinforce student’s use of each target word definition.
